There are several tour companies that will take horseback riders of any age and skill level on a river, sunset or waterfall tour. The guide will take you through small villages where you will see a slice of the Mexican culture, eat local food, and enjoy the beauty of the exotic flora.

Most of the bilingual staff and experienced tour guides will carefully match the riders and their horses . Tours take at least 3 hours and include bus transport to and from your hotel, breakfast or lunch, and tour guides. Prices start at $47 and depend on the length of the tour.

Horseback Riding Locations in Puerto Vallarta

Rancho Capomo

This ranch is a 40 minute drive from Puerto Vallarta in Las Palmas, a town in Jalisco. They offer a variety of horseback riding tours, but the Ecological Tour is a must. The Waterfall Tour starts and ends at Rancho Real and will take you through the jungle, where you will experience the majestic views of the mountains and enjoy the tropical vegetation. A stop at the waterfall will allow horseback riders to take a dip in the cool water.

There are several horseback riding trails to choose from and a choice of 3 hour, 5 hour, all-day, or 3-7 day all-inclusive tours through lush jungle and rain forest.

Hacienda de Divisadero

Horseback riding tours are included with your stay at this Mexican hacienda surrounded by an agave plantation. Aside from horseback riding, you’ll be able to taste raicilla (rye-see-ya), a traditional alcoholic drink made from the roots of the maguey plant.
