Downtown Puerto Vallarta is home to all sorts of musical events, both traditional and international.  Clubs like the world famous Hard Rock Café have shows throughout the week for the dedicated rock-and-roller.  Jazz is available at locations like La Dolce Vida, and Latin music of all kinds, including Cuban music, can be heard in a number of downtown clubs all conveniently located in a safe, accessible central area. 

There are also dozens of clubs scattered throughout the Hotel Zone and the Marina area.  On any given night of the week, visitors staying in these parts of Puerto Vallarta can find events featuring traditional Mexican Folk Music, Blues, and even a British pub with a touch of the Scottish and the Irish. 

Land Tours

Some of the best Puerto Vallarta events begin in or near the city and take you far away to exotic and remote locales.  Take your pick from traditional Mexican bullfighting, freshwater fishing in the breathtaking Sierra Madre Mountains, or bird watching tours that take you into the jungle to study the colorful and vibrant species that populate the canopy.  If you want some quite time to take in the scenery with a significant other or small group of very close friends, you can also go back to basics on a horseback excursion into the mountains.

Sea Tours

One of Puerto Vallarta’s most magnificent and world famous events is the annual birthing of humpback whale calves in the Bay of Banderas.  For reasons known only to the whales, this is their preferred place to migrate when it comes time to bear their young.  Several tours can take you out during the season to witness these gentle giants of the deep as they venture into the shallow waters of the bay to continue the ancient cycle of life they have enjoyed for millions of years. 

If you happen to be in PV when the whales are not migrating, you can still enjoy the local indigenous population of sea lions that lives in the waters of the bay.  There is also a dolphin center in Puerto Vallarta that hosts events throughout the week, including educational events for the young and old alike.

Experience the high culture of Pacific Coast Mexico each week at various locations throughout Puerto Vallarta.  Events are held every week that include plays in the local amphitheater, wine tasting, and ballet.  Sometimes there are tours of some of the city’s more elaborate and famous homes, and  benefit dinners are frequently held for local charitable causes.
